- March 2011: The Congressional Research Service released a report titled Central America Regional Security Initiative: Background and Policy Issues for Congress. The report covers the violent instability in Central America, which poses a growing threat to the countries of the region, with direct and indirect consequences for the United States. - January 2011: Human Rights Watch released 2011 World Report highlighting Guatemala and Honduras for its weak and corrupt law enforcement institutions, record of suspending key civil liberties, and increasing violence. Read the full report here.
- November 2010: Red de Seguridad y Defensa de America Latina (RESDAL) released its updated bi-annual Comparative Atlas of Defense in Latin America and the Carribean. The atlas provides comparative and practical information about defence matters in the region, and is presented both comparatively, as well as on a country-by-country basis, highlighting theirlegal frameworks, budgets, organizational structures, policy considerations.
- November 2010: The UNDP Human Development Report 2010 titled “The Real Wealth of Nations: Pathways to Human Development” was released. The report underlines long-term national progress in health, education, and incomes for 135 countries as measured by the Human Development Index (HDI).
- October 2010: Transparency International released the 2010 Corruption Perceptions Index, ranking the Central American countries in terms of corruption perception and transparency levels.
- June 2010: The U.N. Office on Drugs and Crime released its 2010 World Drug report which names the “Northern Triangle” of Central America as the “worst affected region [where] drug-related violence has
